The ASEAN-India Summit 2025 was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 26…. the 22nd time India and Southeast Asian leaders came together to strengthen their partnership. This year’s summit had some big moments. Leaders agreed on a Plan of Action for 2026 to 2030 to take forward the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They also announced 2026 as the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation, showing how both sides are focusing more on the Indo-Pacific. The summit also adopted a Joint Statement on Sustainable Tourism, proposed a Centre for Southeast Asian Studies at Nalanda University, and announced that the East Asia Summit Maritime Heritage Festival will be held in Lothal, Gujarat. And, Timor-Leste officially joined as ASEAN’s 11th member this year. So, what exactly is ASEAN? It stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations…. a regional group that works for peace, stability, and economic growth. It was set up in 1967 with five countries…. Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Today, it has 11 members, and its headquarters is in Jakarta, Indonesia. For India, ASEAN is a key partner in the Indo-Pacific, linking us through trade, technology, and regional cooperation. #ASEANIndiaSummit2025 #ASEANIndiaPartnership #MaritimeCooperation2026 #IndoPacific #TimorLesteJoinsASEAN #PlanOfAction2026to2030 #TradeConnectivity, #DigitalIndiaASEAN #SustainableTourism #BlueEconomy #ActEastPolicy #ASEANCentrality #UPSC #Trending #VisionIAS
