On the very first open day of 2026, the Brisbane Transport Museum chose to do an 'all-Volvo' open day - with all of the buses operating having a Volvo chassis. I rode on a total of six joyride buses that day, including an ex-BCC Volvo B10M Butterbox, an early generation Volvo B7RLE Bustech, two Volvo B12BLE Bustech VST buses (one formerly from Surfside which is now preserved with the QOCS and one currently operating with Clark's Bus Service), a Volvo B8RLE Bustech VST (last generation) and - for the subject of this video - a Volvo B12M school bus bodied by Coach Concepts. The bus in this video is a one of a kind, as it was the only Volvo B12M bus built for Australia. The difference between the Volvo B12M and Volvo B12B (which is far more common and found in many long distance coaches and charter coaches) is that the engine of the Volvo B12M is mounted in the middle of the bus, while the engine of the Volvo B12B is mounted at the rear of the bus. Bus 1109 is still in service as a school bus, though it's one of a kind status meant that it was operating joyrides today at the Brisbane Transport Museum!
