Stanier's Pacifics - PRCLT 'West Shed' - 25/08/2024

While at Midland Railway Butterley for their Vintage Train Event, a visit was made to The West Shed, home of 'The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust' (PRCLT), Custodians of LMS Princess Royal Class 46203 'Princess Margaret Rose', Princess Coronation Class 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland' and BR Standard 4MT Tanks 80080 & 80098. In this short video, we capture the on-going progress of both 6233 & 80098 as well as RSH 0-4-0ST No.7214 'George'. The trust's flagship locomotive 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland' is currently being stripped for a major overhaul with the boiler due to be lifted. Having last steamed in December 2022, whilst 80098 also in for a major overhaul, having last steamed in 2009. Other BR Standard Tank 80080, can currently be found on The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, although at the time of filming and editing the locomotive is believed to still be out of traffic for intermediate repairs. On static display inside the museum section Princess Royal Class 46203 'Princess Margaret Rose', one of two Princess Classes to survive into preservation. 46203 last ran in April 1996. At the time of writing there is currently believed to be no current plans to return 46203 to steam with the trust currently focussing on 6233, 80080 & 80098.
