Essential Ecosystem Area Wehea-Kelay, located in East Kalimantan province, is known with its rich biodiversity. This area is home to various wildlife, including Indonesian endemic wildlife, kalimantan orangutan. However, data shows that most orangutans are found inhabiting an area outside of the protected area. As a result, this endemic wildlife is vulnerable to conflict with the locals. Essential Ecosystem Area Wehea-Kelay can be a prototype model to protect the wildlife that lives outside of the protected area and reduce the conflict between humans and wildlife.
