ackerman steering setup, during planning, fabrication, & initial test stages. this is the "steering end" of the new dolly I'm building for my (ancient) Airco dip-pak 200 MIG welder. also shown here are the new axles I had to make to use new caster wheels inside the old swivel caster 'frames'. also shows the new eight inch FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic, probably nylon) wheels I'll be using on the dolly rear, under the tank. I've removed their ball bearings (and had to hone them out slightly) so they'd fit on their new 1.1875 (one and three-sixteenths inch diameter) cold-rolled steel axle. the new dolly will have the ability to hold either a 125 or a 250 cubic foot tank. the 250 cubic footer will "fit down inside" the rear frame rails (but just barely). space is a huge issue here; I need to make everything as strong as possible but it also needs take up as little room as it can... my dip-pak site http://machines.2x.nu/dip-pak200_MIG_... shows what my aicro dip-pak 200 MIG looked like when I first got it. most of the questions (posted on the top of my dip-pak site) have already been answered. I'm always glad to hear from fellow dip-pak MIG welder *owners*, no matter where you guys are located :-) so we can share information, tips, ideas, and sources for parts, etc thanks, guys, dave
