Dr. John Cox is a cardiologist in Joplin, MO and is affiliated with Freeman Health System. He received his medical degree from A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and has been in practice 39 years. He specializes in echocardiography and interventional cardiology and is experienced in valvular heart disease, cardiac catheterization, cardiac critical care, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, and icd/pacemaker insertion. Dr. Cox came to Freeman Health System in 1988. He initially practiced in Columbia, MO, and Sedalia, MO. He started the heart program at Freeman and has been Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine and Chief of Staff. He was director of the cardiac catheterization lab until 2005. It is now the fifth-largest heart program in Missouri. He has published in multiple medical journals and is on the board of Freeman Health System. Dr. Cox is a professor of internal medicine and cardiology at the Kansas City University School of Medicine. As an interventional cardiologist, he was the first in the area to perform multiple different cardiac procedures.
