This is the vocal range of Ava Max in her debut album: Heaven & Hell (2020). I've been waiting for the release for 2 years and it is finally came out! I fell in love with Ava since the first time I've listened to "Sweet but Psycho", she has such an amazing voice and an interesting style with a huge potential, she might not be a good vocalist and people can think that she can be a little bit basic and look like a revisted version of the majority of the most popular icons of the last 20 years but I stand for her and I truly think that she is the definition of a pure pop star: her voice is beautiful, her songs are so catchy and popular, her personality is pretty unique and her style is so captivating and I'm just looking for how she will evolve in her next steps. Although I really appreciated her timbre and her vocal style, I can't deny that she is not that good as a vocalist. Her low register is clearly the strongest part of her voice: she can carry her support down to F#3/G3 and she keeps a tonal quality down to an Eb3 which is pretty good especially for a light lyric soprano and she has such a beautiful color in this area honestly. The belts are definitely the most questionable aspect about her voice: although I like her tone and her texture, she's not able to carry almost any support not even to a G#4 which is pretty sad considering her voice type, her throaty placement and the uncorrected usage of the 'kermit' voice cause too much tension, without mentiong that her larynx is clearly high all the time. There's so much potential though and I really hope that she will work on it and explore it more and even higher if it's possible. The falsetto is actually good and has a really mystic vibe on it, I really wish we could hear more of this area. Last but not least, she is capable of using a whistle register and not that bad from what we could hear: she seems to control it very well, the sound is so good at least for my tastes and I'm just looking for her next attempts. That being said, the album is truly a pop masterpice! Almost every song can potentially become a single and it is all so well produced that it really makes you think that pop music is not dead at all and that it's actually reborning stronger than ever. "Sweet but Psycho" is one of the best pop songs of the last 10 years. Period. My favourite songs are Kings & Queens, Naked, Tattoo, OMG What's Happening, Call Me Tonight, Born to the Night, Torn, Who's Laughing Now, Belladonna, Rumors, So I Am, Salt and Sweet but Psycho!
