Julie and I first met Bob & Cindy at a classic boat show (Lakeside, Ohio) in 2020. We were looking to film the story of a vintage wooden boat restoration project and immediately fell in love with the look of their 1954 18’ Lyman Islander. Although the bulk of the restoration work was complete, they had such a unique story of how the restoration came about and what was involved that we knew we had to share it. There is such a beauty in wooden boats. The lines, the curves, the artistry and functionality all define these classic works of “functional art”. Watch the video to see Bob & Cindy preserve a piece of Great Lakes History.
