Southern Construction Precinct - January 2026 🚧 Major Milestones Achieved (Southern Precinct – Clovelly Park) 🏗️ 1. Site Establishment Completed Full construction site established from Tonsley Boulevard to Norrie Avenue. This includes fencing, access points, utilities, and staging areas. 🛠️ 2. TBM Delivery & Assembly Underway First Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) components delivered to the Southern Precinct. Assembly has commenced on-site in preparation for tunnelling. 🚦 3. New Link Roads & Intersection Works Two new link roads constructed to maintain local access during major works. A new signalised intersection at Norrie Avenue and South Road is now operational. 🏢 4. New Site Office & Training Centre Opened A major project hub has opened on the former Stratco site at South Road & Rothesay Avenue. 🧱 5. Diaphragm Wall Construction for TBM Launch Box Crews have begun constructing the 35‑metre‑deep diaphragm walls that form the permanent TBM launch box at Clovelly Park. This launch box will send two 4.5 km TBMs northward. 🏭 6. Supporting Infrastructure Installed Spoil handling systems, conveyor routes, bentonite plant, and water treatment facilities are being established to support tunnelling operations. 🚇 7. Tunnelling Program Timeline Confirmed Major works began in 2025. Tunnelling is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2026, meaning early 2026 is focused on launch‑box completion and TBM assembly.
