FIXING THERMOSTAT HOUSING LEAK - INBOARD DIESEL ENGINE Yanmar YSM8

We finally found the cause of water coming into the bilge, of our 1981 Tanzer Sailboat. It turns out that the thermostat housing wasn't tight enough to the engine block, which meant that the gasket wasn't sealed, and every time the motor ran, LEAK. The reason for the loose gasket, was caused by a faulty bolt, that got stripped at some point, from either previous maintenance, or heavy tension/vibration. We purchased a new bolt from Davis & Davis in Napanee Ontario, but unfortunately the inside threads were already damaged. Next step, re-tapping the threads on the inside of the engine.
