Some wounds don’t come with a bandage…they come with a sign. “DO NOT TOUCH.” Not because you don’t believe Jesus has power, but because you’re afraid of what happens if someone gets too close. Afraid they won’t handle it with care. Afraid they’ll pull back. Afraid they’ll walk away. And if we’re honest, some of us have lived with whole sections of our story marked off limits. In Mark 1:29–45, Jesus walks straight into the places everyone else avoids. He touches a woman with a fever. He restores the sick. He confronts oppression. And then He does something that would have shocked everyone watching…He touches a leper. In that world, a leper wasn’t just sick. He was socially exiled. Publicly labeled “unclean.” Untouchable. Avoided. But Jesus reaches out anyway, and Mark shows us something we cannot miss: The authority of Jesus is not cold. It’s compassionate. It’s close. And it moves toward what you’ve tried to keep hidden. In this message, you’ll see: • Jesus isn’t only Lord in “church settings.” He steps into homes, ordinary spaces, and personal struggles. • The crowds don’t define Jesus. The Father does. Jesus refuses to be driven by popularity or spectacle. • Communion with the Father fuels Jesus’ clarity. After a night of miracles, He withdraws to pray, reminding us that private intimacy sustains public ministry. • A leper comes with a painfully honest confession: “If you will…you can.” He doesn’t doubt Jesus’ power. He doubts His willingness. • Jesus answers with both heart and hand: He touches him and says, “I will.” • Under the law, uncleanness spreads by contact. Under Jesus’ authority, holiness spreads instead. Jesus does not become unclean. The man becomes clean. If you’ve assumed Jesus is reluctant to deal with your mess…this passage corrects that. Jesus’ hand is strong, and His heart is just as strong. The real question is not “Can He?” The question is: Do you trust His compassion enough to let Him touch what you keep hidden? So here’s the invitation today: What part of your life have you labeled “DO NOT TOUCH”?
