A 20 minute video seems a lot, but we have five days condensed into that time frame, with snippets of footage for each occasion. There are also closeups of DH2. This male blackbird (who in my mind I have started calling Jeremy) is almost a constant (and unwanted) companion to the eaglet, from early morning to dusk. His nest must be fairly close. He seems to grow bolder as the days go by, and it has even chased DH2 towards the bluff, when she decides to escape! You will witness, in the final scenes (16 July), how brazen he has become! To be fair, one must look at both sides - he is desperately trying to keep a predator away from his nest, and I really don't know where he gets so much energy from. On the other hand, although I know that birds' brains are structured in a different way from ours, and they don't feel the emotions we are familiar with, as humans, can I really believe that this young eagle doesn't feel stress, frustration and annoyance? The little fellow was disturbing her when she was visibly tired and in need of a nap. I have tried to assuage any feeling of anxiety, from watching this constant persecution, with some humour. The cynics will say, it's nature, if you can't stand it, don't watch it, but fans know differently :) My only concern is that DH2 might get to the point of leaving the territory before her time, because of it, but it can't be helped. INFORMATION FOR NEW VISITORS TO THE LUCEFORALL CHANNEL: Please note that this is an entertainment channel, even though you can still learn something about the wild birds and I am always happy to share whatever information I gather along the way. I often make up little stories to amuse viewers and friends and, on occasions, I use instrumental music as background, so it is not suited to everybody. If your interest in eagles is more professional, there are other channels to follow, on YouTube. This small channel wants to be a little oasis, a refuge, and I wish to promote a positive atmosphere. I will gladly accept constructive criticism, expressed in polite and friendly terms, but I will remove any insulting or rude remarks. Thank you for understanding.
