In this presentation the five common symptoms experienced by patients at end of life and basic management steps are discussed. After you’ve completed the activity the learner should be able to name the most common symptoms, how they affect quality of life, and basic management strategies, including medication management. Clinicians and non-clinicians alike are often called upon to help patients and families understand the interplay between the physical impact of their disease process and their quality of life/comfort. This discussion provides basic education that will allow a learner to support their patient’s and their care givers during the advanced and end stages of disease through end of life.
