This video explores a subtle teaching from Ibn Arabi: that the human being functions as a mirror in which the Divine becomes known. It begins with a question: what does it mean to “remember” God? Is remembrance an act performed by an individual, or is it something more fundamental woven into existence itself? The discussion moves into Ibn Arabi’s idea that creation reflects the attributes of the Real. Every form discloses meaning. Yet the human being holds a unique position: awareness can recognize what it reflects. The “mirror” is not a memory in the ordinary sense. It is the capacity of consciousness to witness the source from which it arises. When identity is tied to separation, the reflection appears fragmented. The self imagines autonomy and forgets its origin. But as the illusion of independence weakens, remembrance shifts from effort to recognition. The mirror does not create what it reflects, it simply reveals what is already present. In Ibn Arabi’s vision, the secret reflection is ongoing. God is not remembered as a distant object. The act of knowing itself becomes a disclosure of the Real. When the mirror is clear of self-claiming, remembrance is no longer something you do, it is what you are.
