Remembering the Year 1955

The Johnny Carson Show debuted in 1955. This was NOT the Tonight Show....That was a totally different show. I’m often asked what styles on my Yamaha Tyros 5 keyboard I use in my songs. Here’s that information for the five songs at the end of this Youtube. “Cool Water” used CountrySwing 2 from the Country styles. “Ain’t That A Shame” used the Blueberry Hill style from the Genos keyboard Oldies styles. “Unchained Melody” used the 12-8Ballad from the Ballad styles. “Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White” used the ChaChaCha from the Latin styles. “I Hear You Knocking” used 6 MIDI tracks I played into my Tyros 5 keyboard. You’ll notice some mistakes in my playing. That’s because I can’t bend three of my fingers. My right ring finger is broken and my two middle fingers on each hand are locked straight by arthritis (I’m 80 years old) People often ask me why I choose the particular songs I do in these YouTubes. My first, and most important, requirement is: can I play the song from memory with no sheet music ? I play all my songs by ear. Fortunately I have a spreadsheet with over 800 song titles in it that I can play by ear, so it will take me a long time to run out of songs.
