#87 - Simple Garden Jobs That Make a Big Difference

In today’s video I’m giving my flower bed a much needed tidy up. I start by clearing away the surface grass and weeds, then gently loosen the soil to about an inch deep around the daffodils and montbretia to help them breathe and grow. Next, I move on to trimming both my white and pink rambling roses. I begin by removing any shoots growing in the wrong direction—towards other plants or out over the deck. After that, I cut back last summer’s old flowering stems and reduce most of the remaining shoots to two buds, taking out any old or dying growth along the way.
