AI is fundamentally changing how financial institutions approach compliance. In this episode of FinTech Focus TV, Toby Babb speaks with PJ Di Giammarino, Founder and CEO of RegRisk Legal Solutions, about the future of RegTech and why the industry is entering a new era of regulatory control. For many years, regulatory technology was implemented reactively. New regulations appeared, and firms responded by deploying tools to meet those requirements. However, PJ argues that artificial intelligence is forcing a far more fundamental shift. Regulators themselves are now digitising. They are using data-driven supervisory models, AI tools, and advanced analytics to monitor financial institutions. This means firms must move beyond good intentions and demonstrate real control across their entire operating models. PJ explains why concepts such as data as capital, compute as trust, and sovereignty as control are shaping the next generation of regulatory frameworks. The conversation explores how AI is transforming compliance, surveillance, financial crime detection, and operational resilience. It also examines why financial institutions must rethink governance structures if they want to remain competitive in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.
