During the East German era, it became a key hub for youth resistance, providing a space for opposition groups to meet and plan against the state. This role was pivotal in the peaceful revolution that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Today, the church houses the Youth Resistance Museum, highlighting the district’s history of defiance and the significant role the church played in fostering open dissent.
