The role of NOTCH1 mutation in CLL

John Allan, MD, Weill Cornell Medicine, New York, NY, shares some insights into the role of NOTCH1 mutation in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Dr Allan first highlights the importance of NOTCH1 mutation in CLL, as it is one of the most common mutations found in patients and is associated with very aggressive disease and poor prognosis. Dr Allan then discusses the promising outcomes seen in NOTCH1-mutated patients treated with Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitors and BCL-2 inhibitors. To conclude, Dr Allan mentions the need to continue investigating novel therapeutic combinations in NOTCH1-mutated CLL in order to improve clinical outcomes for patients.
