He was among the fiery and straight talking politicians who gave character to the once vibrant Ford-kenya party at the height of the re-introduction of multi-party politics in the country. James Omingo Magara joined politics by default when he replaced his brother the late Enoch Nyakieya Magara as the South Mugirango member parliament who died in a tragic road accident in 2001 representing the constituency for two consecutive terms. His attempts to reclaim the seat have since hit a brick wall forcing him to shift his focus to one of his childhood hobby of dairy farming. The 57 year old politician turned farmer now boasts of 73 heifers which produce 3,500 litres in a week. Sara Adams visited his farm and tells us how the politician has transitioned from the podium to the farm.
