RISSANI | OUR FAVOURITE TRADITIONAL MOROCCAN TOWN! | Sahara Desert | Africa

In the summer of 2020 we spent 6 weeks living in Rissani. Rissani is located on the edge of the Sahara Desert and is an often missed spot due to people whizzing by to Merzouga. This is unfortunate as Rissani has SO MUCH to offer the visitor. It is absolutely the most traditional desert town that we visited and you won't find the typical tourist trappings, just honest and lovely Moroccan people offering up the absolute best in hospitality. We took great joy in seeing the surrounding area by bike and explored many of the 600 kasbahs that still grace the landscape, left over from the days of the many Sultans that once lived in the area. Rissani was once the worlds largest trading zone and caravans of people came from Africa, Europe and Asia to trade all manner of things. Morocco is very rich in gems and minerals, and was once one of the wealthiest countries in the world.
