In this four-part series, you will learn to build a comprehensive system in Smartsheet for submitting, approving, and tracking employee vacation day requests. This first video will teach you how to calculate vacation day allotment based on tenure using some pretty advanced functions! We'll take advantage of date functions and nested IF() functions so that you never need to think about calculating vacation days again. Throughout this series you will learn the fundamentals of creating a workflow process in Smartsheet. In Part 2, we will pull data from one sheet to another using cross-sheet references and SUMIFS(), VLOOKUP(), and INDEX(MATCH()) functions, and create web forms for employees to submit vacation day requests. Part 3 will teach you how to set up an automated approval process and how to build dashboards. We will also look at embedding Smartsheet forms in dashboards and adding in default values using URL query strings. Finally, in Part 4, we will build a calendar view report to see all of our employees' vacation days in a glance.
