CODEN, Ala. (WPMI) Darlene Holland's garden of peas and greens are now the remnants of a crime scene. Never thought I would have it in my own backyard so to speak, Holland said, cause we don't usually have a lot of trouble down here. I'm going to keep a gun handy, I know that.Robert Perry and his stepdaughter's car ended up stuck in Holland's yard on Bayou Jonas Drive on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities say the two went to the Walmart in Tillman's corner to potentially purchase a car. They were then targeted by Kymberli Lindsay and Saraya Atkins. The women followed Perry's family home, their cars ended up in the mud and in an attempted robbery; Perry was shot several times trying to defend his stepdaughter. He later died. The charges against the two women arrested have been upgraded to capital murder. Place and her husband live next door to Perry's stepdaughter; the couples along with nearly everyone on the street are shocked by the shooting. It's never anything that goes down around here, she said. The tracks of mud at the end of the road now serve as a scary reminder of the tragedy that transpired. While police say they have all the suspects in custody, Holland worries there may be more out there.I do know there was a third one, she said, cause he drove the car up here. Now the Mobile County Sheriff's Office did call off the search for the third suspect saying there only two people involved. The two suspects, Atkins and Lindsay will be in court on Thursday morning.
