It’s my way of showing the world why Kolkata’s Durga Puja is unlike anything else. From the very first day the pandals open, I start hopping across the city, capturing and sharing them. I began doing this simply to help make Kolkata’s Durga Puja even more popular. Of course, we all know it has always been very famous, but I wanted to do my little part in spreading its popularity even further, so that every people in India will no about this Durga Puja. And of course, we all know that in December 2021, UNESCO inscribed Kolkata Durga Puja on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. That recognition only confirmed what every Bengali and every puja lover already knew; this festival is one of the most famous and celebrated cultural events in the world. I try to cover as much as I can, from the local favorites in suburban lanes to the renowned pandals across the city. I believe each one adds its own magic to the festival. However, it is very difficult to cover each and every pandal, after all there are around 3,000 Barowari pujas in Kolkata. To be honest, the city changes its colour during this festive season. It gets brighter with dazzling lights, more vibrant with artistic decorations, louder with the beats of the dhak, and warmer with the joy of millions of people coming together to celebrate. Kolkata truly becomes a city that never sleeps during Durga Puja.
