Odell Johnson served as a pilot in World War II in northern Africa, Italy, and southern France. On September 9, 1944, he was shot down, captured, and held for ten months as a prisoner of war in Stalag Luft 1 in Barth, Germany. Len Myrah, himself a Vietnam veteran and former air force pilot, interviews Odell about his experiences. They discuss P40 and P47 fighter planes, conditions in the camp, Odell’s family legacy (his grandson recently attained the rank of Major in the Air Force), and more about Odell’s life and service.
