Dr. Sule Tinaz, MD, PhD, kicks off Parkinson's Awareness Month in our Powerful People series. She sits down with our Executive Director, Dr. Nina Mosier, to discuss the impact of high-intensity exercise on the brains (and lives!) of people with Parkinson’s. Dr. Tinaz, MD, PhD, is a movement disorder specialist and an assistant professor of neurology at Yale School of Medicine, where she conducts research using advanced neuroimaging technologies. We are especially excited about one of Tinaz’s recent studies that found that high-intensity exercise may reverse neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s disease. We can't wait to learn more about Dr. Tinaz's research! Dr. Sule Tinaz's article: Intense Exercise Increases Dopamine Transporter and Neuromelanin Concentrations in the Substantia Nigra in Parkinson’s Disease can be read in more depth here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s4153... ⭐OUR MISSION⭐ Power for Parkinsons provides free fitness classes and social opportunities for people with #parkinsons and their care partners in Austin, TX and worldwide through our free symptom-focused classes on YouTube! Our mission is to engage people with Parkinson’s in regular exercise to slow or even reverse the effects of PD, improve their overall sense of well-being, provide opportunities for socialization, and help prevent the depression and isolation that often accompany the disease. 🗞️SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER🗞️ https://mailchi.mp/powerforparkinsons... 👥JOIN OUR MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM👥 Support Power for Parkinson's and gain special perks by signing up for our membership program!
