The Purple Line is dynamic testing light rail vehicles! A major milestone has been reached as the project continues to transform communities. Testing will take place on a one-mile track parallel to Veterans Parkway between Riverdale Road and Annapolis Road, with both daytime and nighttime tests. The site is monitored 24/7 and trespassing is prohibited. Violators will be prosecuted. Testing will include trains accelerating, braking, and occasional horn and bell tests. Stay tuned for the next chapter in the Purple Line project. #PurpleLinePoweredUp The Purple Line will extend from New Carrollton in Prince George’s County to Bethesda in Montgomery County, offering direct connections to the Metro Red, Green, and Orange lines at Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton. It will also link to MARC, Amtrak, and local bus services.
