"Today we’re honoring Kenneth Washington — a gifted actor who helped shape some of television’s most iconic moments. Born in Ethel, Mississippi, in 1936 and raised in San Francisco, Kenneth set his sights on Hollywood and made his film debut in 1956’s The Birds and the Bees. But it was television that made him a familiar face across America. He appeared in fan favorites like Daktari and Adam-12, where he played Officer Miller, and even took a trip to the final frontier in Star Trek as Engineer John Watkins in the classic episode “That Which Survives.” In 1970, Kenneth made TV history when he joined Hogan’s Heroes as Sergeant Richard Baker — the final regular cast member added to the beloved sitcom’s lineup. His warmth, timing, and presence helped close out one of television’s most enduring comedies. Throughout the 1970s and beyond, Kenneth continued to bring characters to life in shows like A Different World and countless guest appearances that showcased his range and charm. Kenneth Washington passed away in July 2025 at age 88 in Beverly Hills, remembered as the last surviving main cast member of Hogan’s Heroes. A true pioneer, his laughter and legacy still echo on screens today. #KennethWashington #HogansHeroes #ClassicTV #StarTrek #HollywoodHistory"
