Welcome to Elgin Museum: In Conversation, our "virtual" Moray Society Winter Lecture Series for 2020-21. In this opening episode, we’re talking with Neil Curtis, Head of Museums & Special Collections at the University of Aberdeen. Neil also teaches on the MLitt programme in Museum Studies. He studied Archaeology at Glasgow, Museum Studies at Leicester, and Education at Aberdeen, and is very much embedded in the heritage sector in Scotland, especially north east Scotland. This can be seen through his many external positions and his varied research interests: he has been Convenor of University Museums in Scotland, Vice-Chair of the Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel, and is currently a member of the Ethics Committee of the Museums Association. His research ranges from the history of museums through to contemporary museum issues, as well as various aspects of Scottish archaeology.
