Hello and welcome back! This video is a quick breakdown of a patch I came up with while messing around on Sunday morning, with no particular plan in mind. It turned out sounding quite nice, so I thought I’d record a bit of it and explain how I made it. It uses two basic eight-note sequences, one from a locked shift register, aka Turing Machine, in the Plum Audio 1uO_c (1U version of Ornament & Crime, running Hemisphere Suite), the other from the Xaoc Moskwa, both clocked by Pamela’s New Workout. Between them, these sequences control three voices, which are made up as follows: 1: Plum Audio RO’VED (1U version of Mutable Instruments Plaits), with modulation from SSF RND Step. 2: Dannysound Cali oscillator, through Dannysound Timbre wavefolder, through AI Synthesis AI017 LPG enveloped by Dannysound VC-ADSR, also with modulation from RND Step. 3. Dannysound EN129 oscillator and Joranalogue Filter 8 (used as an oscillator) combined in New Systems Instruments Babel, then through Dannysound Multimode Ladder Filter and Dannysound MM VCA enveloped by Joranalogue Contour 1, then through Dannysound Dynamics. All three voices go through the Calsynth Monsoon (an expanded clone of Mutable Instruments Clouds), plus there are a couple of drum sounds towards the end from the Tiptop BD808 and HATS808 and there's some extra modulation of various parameters from the Instruo/Divkid Ochd. So I’m definitely not reinventing the wheel with anything here, but the end result could be a good starting point for a more complex track with evolving sequences, extra drums, other musical elements etc. I hope you find it interesting, and maybe it’ll spark some ideas for your own patches.
