Join me as we take a nostalgic journey back to 1975 — when the family holiday meant a trip to the British seaside, a week at Pontins or Butlins, or pitching up the caravan or tent for a week of simple fun. For many, a picnic at the weekend was the next best thing if you couldn’t afford the big holiday! We’ll look at what it cost back in 1975, and how much that would be in today’s money — from train journeys to accommodation and those seaside caravans and tents. As the late 1970s rolled in, we began to venture abroad — to Spain’s Costa del Sol, Benidorm, and beyond. We embraced sunshine, sangria, and siestas, tried new wines and foods, and came back thinking we were fluent in Spanish (well… almost!). then showing everybody the photos at parties that bored me, not sure how about you?
