From a Jan. 25, 1983 show, Los Angeles, CA. This band lineup includes talented original member David Roback on guitar, who contributed to the songwriting in Rain Parade, a band of the 1980s L.A. Paisley Underground scene of bands inspired by 1960s rock/psychedelia. David left the band in 1984 & went on to found Clay Allison, Opal, & Mazzy Star. Set List: 01. [--tuning up--] 02. This Can't Be Today 03. Talking In My Sleep 04. One Hour One Half Ago 05. I Look Around 06. Kaleidoscope 07. Carolyn's Song 08. No Good Trying (Syd Barrett cover) 09. What She's Done To Your Mind 10. John Riley (with Michael Quercio of The 3 O'Clock on lead vocal) The song "John Riley", a traditional folk song covered by The Byrds in the 1960s, appears (with Quercio again on vocals) on Roback's 1984 fine "Rainy Day" L.P. project, an album of 1960s song covers (+one from the '70s) which brought together musicians & singers from a number of Paisley Underground bands to collaborate on making the record. Ive uploaded to YT a CD rip of the whole Rainy Day album. Oct. 2013 update: I maintain & update an extensive (mostly live shows) bootlegs list with download links at new fan forum mazzystar.free.fr of Mazzy Star & related artists (Hope Sandoval, Opal, Rain Parade, etc.). The boots thread is found in the "General Discussion" section. "Worthwhile music's for sharing, not hoarding". The forum also has a thread with eight 2013 press interviews with Hope & David.
