Bruno Costa, MD, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, discusses his work evaluating the risk of thromboembolic events in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM), emphasizing differences between KRd (carfilzomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone) and VRd (bortezomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone) treatment regimens. This meta-analysis of six studies involving 2,300 patients found a significantly lower rate of venous thromboembolism (VTE) events in the VRd group compared to the KRd group despite minimal differences in arterial thrombotic events between the regimens.
