Check out my video as I review the truper thatch rake from lowes. If you've ever wondered how well these rakes work check out my video. Thatch generally isn't the problem maker. It's more commonly dead grass that people think is "thatch". In all reality thatch is a dust or a fine compost that has been decomposing from microbes in the lawn. when people cut the grass and leave behind large clippings the microbes can't decompose the matter fast enough. That's why I say, you're not thatching your leaving dead grass. The thatch rake imo is more effective at removing dead grass than the power rake. I also feel that a cheaper power rake doesn't do a good job cutting and separating the actual thatch layer.
