The project was to transform a 1960’s bungalow into a contemporary, lodge-style, eco-conscious building. The owners had a beautiful spot, but the view was mostly obscured. They didn’t want to completely rebuild, as reusing and repurposing were important to them. The owners, who were both creatives, required space to work, hold retreats and workshops, and potentially rent out in the future. In order to maximize the incredible view, it was decided to extend the existing property at an angle. Initially, the owners were hesitant to change the shape of the building, but the extension eventually became their favourite part of the home. The extension, strategically placed to capture the view, became the focal point of the home. The decision to renovate and reuse the existing structure not only preserved the charm of the bungalow but also minimised waste and costs.
