Eastern Signal (Right): Siemens Base, Siemens Gate Mechanism, RECO LED Gate Lights and 4 Safetran 12x20” GE Uniform Look LEDs. Western Signal (Left): Siemens Base, Siemens Gate Mechanism, RECO LED Gate Lights, 4 Safetran 12x20” GE Uniform Look LEDs and a WCH Type 4 Electronic Bell! Zone: Horn zone. Light Pattern: Normal. Bell Sequence: Bell rings through the entire activation. Rail Line: CN Edson Subdivision. Date: October 5, 2025 Filming Device: Canon VIXIA HF R800 Instagram: / locorails79 There used to be a pair of gated signals that were either installed in the late 1970s or the late 1980s, featuring an unknown base and a Safetran gate mechanism. I don’t know what else the crossing had originally, but if I had to guess, the original lights were either Safetran 8” Incandescents or WCH 8” Incandescents and the original bell would’ve either been a Safetran Mechanical Bell or a WCH Mechanical Bell. In the 2000s, the mechanical bell was replaced by a General Signals Type 2 Electronic Bell and in either the late 2000s or early 2010s, the lights were replaced with Safetran 12x20” Harmon Fading LED lights. Then earlier this year, the older signals were replaced with the new Siemens signals seen in this video, as they put in new Siemens bases, and new Siemens gate mechanisms. On top of that, the Safetran 12x20” Harmon Fading LED lights were replaced with the current Safetran 12x20” GE Uniform Look LEDs and instead of being replaced by a generic Low-Tone Siemens Electronic Bell, the General Signals Type 2 Electronic Bell was replaced with the current WCH Type 4 Electronic Bell. I know I’ve said this before, but I personally would’ve reused the Safetran 12x20” Harmon Fading LEDs and General Signals Type 2 Electronic Bell until they didn’t work anymore, especially because it was one of the last General Signals Type 2 Electronic Bells on the Edson Sub, and it sucks to see it go. At least a WCH Electronic Bell was used because in my opinion, they are better than the Low-Tone Siemens Electronic Bells. Not to mention, they last longer and CN typically doesn’t have them all over the place, despite how they’re slowly making more appearances. And again, I would’ve loved to have that General Signals Type 2 to start my own train parts collection.
