The EPA’s Freshwater Explorer 2.0 is akin to google maps but for environmental data. Dr. Cormier will share brief examples that range from mine permitting in Minnesota to 6PPD-quinone effects on brook trout. Dr. Cormier has served the EPA for more than 35 years, and her research career spans the breadth of the different types of environmental assessments. Noteworthy contributions include methods for condition and background assessment and the development of biological monitoring methods for the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP), now National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS) and more recently the USEPA Freshwater Explorer mapping tool. She led the EPA effort to develop guidance on ecological causal assessment including the development the Causal Analysis/Diagnosis Decision Information System (CADDIS), and advanced predictive assessment with the development of EPA guidance on ecological risk assessment, methods for field-based aquatic life criteria, and ecological weight-of-evidence. ​
