The Working Group on Monitoring Methodologies (WGMM), a voluntary collaboration of more than 50 companies and associations from across the road transport value chain, has published a comprehensive 2024 Report outlining 11 methodologies that can track and trace the use of CO₂-Neutral Fuels (CNFs) in vehicles and thus enable their use in the near future. This represents a major opportunity to help the EU meet its climate and environmental targets set out in the Green Deal. The Report was prepared in response to the EU Commission’s request for industry, OEMs and fuel suppliers to propose technological solutions for verifying and tracking CNFs in a new vehicle class. It is also a reaction to the Commission’s restrictive proposed definition of CO₂-neutral fuels, based on e-fuels only (also referred to as RFNBOs), requiring them to achieve full lifecycle greenhouse gas emission savings. The WGMM experts found these requirements to be very challenging and inconsistent with a broad concept of net-zero targets. We kindly invite you to an open Webinar in which speakers, directly involved in the 2024 work, will give their assessment on the methods and discuss the regulatory and political implications of mainstreaming CNFs in Europe. The presentations will be followed by an open Q&A. Speakers: Alain Mathuren (FuelsEurope), Dáša Mamrillová (EWABA), Domenico Mininni (EBB), Mats Hultmann (Neste), Daniel Kaddik (BFT), Tobias Block (eFuel Alliance).
