Fernald School was a place to put the feebleminded. Fueled by the Eugenics movement of the 1920's and 30's hundreds of children were forced here by parents or as actions of the state. Even normal individuals like those in the films were labeled as morons. They lived in depraved conditions suffering physical, sexual, and deep psychological abuses.
