Strats C... William "mezii" Merriman, former Cloud9 and FNATIC player and currently of Team Vitality, is the star of the 485th Episode of 'Reflections'. mezii's competitive career began back in his native UK scene where playing on teams like Vexxed and GamerLegion saw him teaming with some future VALORANT pros and now GamerLegion coach ashhh. What appeared to be mezii's big break came when he was the lone unknown name selected to join the massively high profile HenryG era Cloud9 roster dubbed "the Colossus". While that team failed to produce meaningful results online and was abandoned after a surprisingly short amount of time, mezii was one of the few names who seemed to leave with a positive impact on his reptuation. He had shown himself capable of playing the tough roles in the game to a competent level. After some time back in the UK scene mezii would join FNATIC and reunited with C9 IGL ALEX there. The UK-Swedish mixed line-up seemed to be heating up online but had issues transitioning to LAN play and was soon torn apart by forces outside-of-the-game. ALEX stepping back from playing left mezii to become the IGL and under him FNATIC performed well enough that he earned plaudits from some for his performance in the new role. Of particular note was a play-off run at the IEM Rio major in late 2022 and narrowly missing out on the bracket at BLAST Paris, the last major of CS:GO. In late 2023 mezii was signed for Team Vitality and immediately won BLAST Fall and BLAST World Finals to end the year on a high. 2024 was a difficult year, as Vitality were regular event favourites and won the epic IEM Cologne 2024, but also failed to make the final of either of the majors or deliver another trophy. For 2025 Spinx has gone and been replaced by former FaZe star ropz. Team Vitality has already won IEM Katowice 2025 to stake their claim as the best team for this new year. This interview was recorded on the 5th of March, 2025. ► Time-line of topics discussed: 00:00 UK scene times with ash 04:15 Original role 06:50 Cloud9 12:27 Online period 14:45 ALEX 17:24 Endpoint 20:07 UK and Swedish FNATIC line-up 22:58 KRiMZ 24:51 Becoming IGL of FNATIC 26:19 IEM Rio major top 8 run 28:55 roeJ and Nicoodoz 31:37 BLAST Paris major 33:49 Potential movement around FNATIC? 35:46 Joining Vitality 38:51 Expectations and role 41:32 Winning two first trophies and getting criticised 43:09 Pressure 45:48 2024 Major losses to FaZe 52:26 Playing with ZywOo 56:43 IEM Cologne win 1:00:17 NAVI's mirage 1:03:15 apEX as an IGL 1:07:16 Resolving 2024's results 1:10:08 ropz roster and winning Katowice 1:12:07 Hunt for a major 1:13:19 Advice for succeeding from the UK 1:15:34 Final words Subscribe this channel to get access to perks: / @thooorin ► Check out bite-sized Thorin on my new clips channel: / thorinclips ► Follow me on social media: / thorin / thooorin / thooorinofficial ► My written content: https://iamesports.substack.com/ ► My stream: / thorin ► You can discuss this content at my Discord server: / discord ► Want esports predictions?
