The lyrics speak of the spirit animal used by the Samnites, in this case represented by the Wolf, which guided them on their path to discovering new lands. The wolf is seen as a sort of demon leading the Samnite armies to victory under the will and power of Mamerte (Mars), the god of war and one of the deities worshipped by the people.
