What is the best evidence for primary and secondary prevention of breast cancer in low-to-middle income countries? We review the epidemiology and the data (including randomized controlled trials) looking at how to reduce breast cancer incidence and mortality in LMICs. We discuss lifestyle interventions (including exercise, body weight and breast feeding), reducing exogenous estrogen exposure and education of women in terms of self-breast examination. Further, we review the data on clinical breast examination and mammography. We review the Breast Health Global Initiative resource-appropriate guidelines for screening, as well as recommendations of the World Health Organization. I hope this video will be helpful for those involved in public health or NGOs trying to make a difference in low resource settings.
