Welcome to the Corona Virus Chronicles... Tim is now self-isolating, and presenting his videos directly from his apartment, via a web link. About 30 years ago, one of Tim's friends made him a name tag with a sliding mechanism - it says 'TIMS' and then when you slide it, it says 'TOYS'. It also looks bit like a military name tag. Ground Control.... Then a greeting card with a penguin. There is an internal section that you can pull out, and it is a place where you can write your message. But as you slide it out, the ribbon at the other end slowly vanishes inside the card, until the little cardboard crown is now on the penguin's head - must be a king penguin! Once you have written your message, you pull on the crown, and as the ribbon emerges, the inner card section vanishes back inside the card. Tim then demonstrates a key fob with a novel mechanism. Keys are held on a woven steel wire. You can push the end of the wire into the fob, once you have popped the keys on, and it slides in easily enough. But pulling on it causes the wire to be held between the internal jaws, and it is held totally securely. If you want to release the wire again, you first push it into the fob, and then slide it out slowly and gently. Next, a travelling coat hanger with a very clever mechanism. Just the thing for Tim's frequent travels! Finally, a calculator with a very elegant, slow motion movement when you open it.
