It’s a new era of surgery at the QEII Health Sciences Centre! Check out Nova Scotia’s newest and most advanced robotic surgery system yet: the da Vinci Xi from Intuitive. For patients, especially those facing cancer, robot-assisted surgery can mean: Smaller incisions Less bleeding Faster recovery Quicker access to further treatment The innovative da Vinci Xi gives surgeons a highly magnified 3D view of inside the body and full control of specialized instruments that can bend and rotate more than the human wrist. It’s making minimally invasive surgery possible for a broader range of patients with complex anatomy and other high-risk factors in Nova Scotia. Here it is in action during its first use in a complex liver surgery at the QEII. *Thank you to the QEII Foundation, the Orchid Women's Health Initiative and 1,300 donors who fundraised $3.8-million to bring the da Vinci Xi to Nova Scotia.
