Habibi, @AnitahAmong has really enjoyed @Parliament_Ug! Throughout the reigns of James Wapakhabulo, Francis Ayume, Edward Ssekandi, Rebecca Kadaga and Jacob Oulanyah, the Speaker's office didn't have an item called "donations". Among introduced it in 2022 starting with 1.2 billion. Today she gets 5.424 billion of taxpayers hard earned money to "donate" as she pleases; to anyone, anywhere, for any reason - or none! For context, a standard "Type B" ambulance costs around $ 22,000 [or 81.4M] according to the Association of Ambulance Professionals Uganda. So, what Among has for donations each month could get Uganda 5 ambulances that the country surely, desperately, needs! That's 67 ambulances in a year! The country needs around 460 ambulances but currently has less than 183 serving her population of 45M! But no, it is "her money to donate"! For further context, the government of Uganda spends less than 20,000/= per kid in UPE annually! At that rate, Among gets money for donations equivalent to what government spends on 271,200 pupils - the future of Uganda! Finally, if [and this is a BIG IF] Among actually donates that money, she has 452,000,000/= to donate per month, 15,000,000/= to donate per day, and 628,000/= to donate per hour, or 10,462 shillings to donate per minute! Again, that's her money to donate... #UgandaParliamentExhibition #ParliamentBudgetUg The speaker, @AnitahAmong gets 5.424 billion shillings for donations, on top of that @ChrisObore1 gets 4.2 billion shillings for donations - that's almost 10 billion shillings! Further, parliament get billions for Corporate Social Responsibility. From what @AAgather shared during #UgandaParliamentExhibition last year, about 18 billion was withdrawn under this item within seven months. Man, that's too much money for an expenditure that can't be explained at a time the country really needs prudence in spending from politicians... #ParliamentBudgetUg
