Nachde Dragons Cultural Group @ Madtown Bhangra 2022 [First Place]

Thank you for watching our debut performance as Nachde Dragons Cultural Group. We are a team that looks to bring Bhangra and folk culture to the forefront of our unique artistic expression. With that being said, creativity is incremental to our approach however, we pride ourselves in innovating based off of moves/sequences from live bhangra and most importantly, the rhythmic interpretation of dhol. For this set, we looked to create an overall experimental structure for the routine. Many competition rubrics view traditionality as hitting your "major segments": Dhamaal, Phummaniya, Jhoomer, Jugni, etc. Although these segments are vital to live bhangra performances, we believe that it turns a blind eye toward other important sequences that are not so commonly referenced in the North American music circuit. Tertiary sequences like Bhabi, Luddi, and Fast Jugni, are not as commonly highlighted in music performances. Therefore, when we started creating this routine, we wanted to create the antithesis of the common music set. We, as Dragons, look to create within this arthouse-style in future performances!
