Lesson 3.4 explains the relatively new discovery of the rhizophagy cycle, whereby plant roots take up plant growth promoting rhizobacteria, extract their nutrients and release them back into the rhizosphere to gain more nutrients for the plant. Root hair production and development is induced by the rhizophagy cycle for the purpose of bacterial release from the root back into the soil.
