The ASQ-3 and ASQ:SE are developmental-behavioral screening measures designed for parents and other caregivers to complete. A number of quality improvement initiatives at state and local levels are using and/or recommending the use of these tools to meet quality indicators that pertain to screening. While the ASQ and ASQ:SE are relatively simple tools to administer, engaging families in the screening process can be challenging, especially in settings that have limited face-to-face time with families. With planning, training and support, state screening systems can be transformed from simple referral mechanisms to rich services that support young children and families.
