From day one in 1969, Sesame Street set out to give less-advantaged children a chance to succeed by arriving at school ready to learn. Since then, we’ve expanded to 150 countries around the world, teaching children not only the academic basics but the social-emotional skills they need to thrive. Sesame Street has had a long history of looking at difficult issues facing children, always from a child’s perspective. We’ve helped break down the stigma of HIV/AIDS in South Africa, addressed the impact of homelessness on families in the United States, delivered early learning to refugee children, and so much more.
