John Lodge brought his Days of Future Passed tour to Las Vegas, NV on July 28, 2023 and he showed why the Moody Blues was just an influential band of the 70's. He performed some of the bands most iconic songs like "Ride My See-Saw," "Gemini Dream," "Isn't Life Strange," and "I'm Just A Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band), but it was the iconic song from the album, that his tour is named after, that tore the house down. "Nights In White Satin" needs no introduction. It's just one of those songs that seems to have always been there but it's journey to music legacy started in 1967 when it was released by Decca Records. Initially, the song bombed on the US chart, barely bubbling under Billboard's Hot 100 at #102. But in 1972, it was re-released and successfully climbed the chart to #2 for two weeks. On Cashbox, it was the group's first #1 record. The song was written by fellow band member, Justin Heyward and included a spoken word section titled, "Late Lament" that was at the end of the song. It was written by Graeme Edge, who was the band's drummer. On the original album, it was spoken by keyboardist Mike Pinder. During the concert, The "Late Lament" is heard first and spoken by Graeme Edge on a pre-recorded video. The song, itself, is sung by Jon Davison, a member of the progressive rock group, Yes (Owner of a Lonely Heart). The song concluded to thunderous ovations. It's just one of those songs....
